— The Engineer
Southern New Mexico. Hot days, brutal nights. My family barely hanging on. In an effort to make sure they had some kind of semblance of a normal life, I built the strongest shelter I knew how. The people of my village saw what I was doing, and made sure to let me know that I shouldn’t simply stop there.
Soon, all of my people were living in a refuge that I had constructed for them. This land is tough, unyielding, but it’s still ours and we’re not going anywhere. My people turn to me to make sure that they stay safe, and I’ll die before letting them down.
